The Lion Salt Works at Ollersham Lane, Marston, near Northwich, is the last remaining open saltworks in Cheshire. It was closed in 1986 and is now preserved as a museum which is being restored with the aid of Heritage Lottery Funding. The branch has been creating a Butterfly Garden at the site with many species of buddleia being planted - clearing of the site commenced in 2009 with the bulk of the planting taking place in early 2010.
Opening of the Butterfly Conservation Garden (including the Buddleia Collection) is open to the public from 5th June 2010.
