Reddish Vale Country Park

This area spans the River Tame forming a green corridor linking Stockport with Woodley and Reddish. It was established as a Country Park in 1985 and at that time a Visitor Centre was constructed on a former industrial complex, whilst nearby an area was ear-marked for a possible butterfly meadow. The Cheshire & Peak District branch became involved with the project and with the aid of grant monies from Manchester Airport a meadow was created with wildflowers and larval foodplants favourable for butterflies.

Since that time the branch has remained actively involved with supporting the Country Park by giving talks, offering advice on conservation matters, butterfly transect recording, habitat restoration and work parties.
