40th anniversary of Butterfly Conservation

In 2008 the Cheshire & Peak District branch teamed up with the landowners of Udder Farm in Congleton to create a maze to replicate the logo of Butterfly Conservation. This enormous maze was constructed in April when the maize crop was planted and paths mapped out using GPS technology. The maze, covered the equivalent of six football pitches, included a quiz trail where visitors searched for hidden clues relating to butterflies and moths. There were also two butterfly gardens where people taking a break from trying to find their way out could spot butterflies.
