Recording butterflies and moths

We continue to run butterfly and moth recording and monitoring projects as they indicate fundamental changes in the environment. The results also provide crucial information on the status of threatened species and underpin our conservation programmes.

What is recording?

Recording is simply the act of logging down what butterflies and moths you see, where you see them and when you see them. Most people simply write down their sightings in a notebook and feed this back to our recording co-ordinators on a regular basis. If you are new to recording and want to learn how to please look at our How to Record page.
