Caterpillar food plant: Marsh Violet (Viola palustris), Common Dog-violet (Viola riviniana)

Cheshire status: There have been no confirmed breeding records in Cheshire since the nineteenth century. Since that time there have been very occasional sightings with the last of these being single insects at Knutsford Heath in July 1995 and Macclesfield Forest in August 2006.
